Take a look at the replacement speed knob for the Yakima Dr.Tray platform bike racks. This part will replace the speed knob that's on your Yakima Dr.Tray platform bike racks, part number Y02473, Y02473-02475, the Y02474, and the Y02474-02475; all those platform bike racks we do sell separately on our website. Basically, this speed knob is what will allow you to tighten down your bike rack to the hitch receiver. It does include the internal wedge alignment spring right here, and the key, and it does not have a lock core in it. We do offer the SKS lock core; it's sold separately on our website, so this can be keyed alike to match existing lock cores. That should do it for the review on new replacement speed knob for the Yakima Dr.Tray platform bike racks..
etrailer.com is the only company that stocks many of these parts for bike racks etc. I would like to see the shipping be Included in the price, however. I am basically stocking up on parts that may be discontinued in the future since the bike rack has been discontinued over a year ago.
The holes in the wedge were not threaded so I cannot use my 2” hitch adapter. There was no key core nor instructions for how to get a replacement and the key was just a blank??!! This is not a like for like replacement and you should let your customers know this before they purchase.

I wanted to ask you which Yakima model bike do you have? Would you be able to explain in more detail how it is not working with the 2-inch adapter? It does not come with a key core however you can add a key core to it. You can order a key core to match your existing keys as long as you know the number from your existing cores. To find it you will need the change key part # Y8007835 to remove a lock core to see the number that is on the side of it. The change key comes with the bike rack if the rack came with lock so you may already have one. You will also need the change key to install the lock core into the speed knob.
Worked perfectly. There is an added spring now that was not on my rack originally; this probably protects the part from rattling during driving, and helps to disengage the rack from your hitch socket. Apply grease liberally to the threaded parts to prevent corrosion from seizing up on this product. Replacing it after it gets corroded is difficult.

Came in cube shaped box and it was too small for it. The knob bent and poked out one corner...

The replacement knob would have been perfect if the bolt wasn't about 2.5 inches longer than the one it was replacing, though I was able to get what I needed from the replacement speed knob to fix the original. Everything else was fine. It might be helpful to include the dimensions of the replacements available on the website.
What an amazing company… our bike rack broke right before we were about to leave for a vacation. I ordered this and within 17 hours we had the replacement piece and we were able to bring the bikes with us… thank you!!!!!

A year ago purchased a replacement speed of assembly for a Dr. Trey bike rack for 2 inch receiver. This is a critical part that keeps the bike rack attached to the vehicle. Since the bike rack was out of production, I wanted to have a spare just in case. Midway through the year of the original speed gave out, so I attempted to replace it. Everything looked identical between the new and old speed knobs. However, the new speed knob wouldn’t not completely secure my bike rack. The bike rack would wobble on the back of my vehicle, which was very disconcerting. I removed and compared the two knobs and discovered that the threaded section on the new knob was ever so slightly 18 inch shorter on the new knob assembly. This prevented the wedge from being pulled far enough to wedge the bike rack securely into the receiver. I feel this is a manufacturers defect and had nothing to do with the service provided by E trailer, which was actually by far some of the best information and service provided by a retailer. I would completely purchase parts from them againwithout hesitation. Luckily, I have a threading tool which allowed me to extend the threads slightly farther and salvage this part.
