The Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper # KDBC225KG is a free floating caliper. It has to float as there is only a piston on one side of the caliper and as it pushes the caliper slides and applies clamping force on both sides of the rotor.
Fixed calipers like the Dexter # K71-693-00 will have pistons on both sides to push both pads into the rotor.
If you need help finding a replacement caliper for your 2000 Nitro I will need to know what disc brake kit was used on the trailer.
