Kodiak Trailer Brakes - Disc Brake Caliper - KDBC225KG Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Kodiak KodaGuard disc brake caliper for 3,500 pound to 6,000 pound axles. Now, this caliper is constructed of a cast iron, and it is plated with KodaGuard for superior rust resistance, durability. It is a cast iron construction which will prevent flexing, helps keep your braking torque consistent. And it is a self-adjusting design caliper, which ensures smooth, even braking.

The low drag ability retracts the piston further than traditional models. The less friction leads to a cooler running brake. Now, the piston on this, I turned it over. I'm gonna take the brake pad out just to show you the piston right here. This is a 2 1/4 inch diameter stainless steel piston, and it is about 30% larger than in most disc brake systems.

And that'll give you increased breaking torque and shorter stopping distances. The brake pads that that comes with are ceramic brake pads. They provide superior performance for more consistent braking. And that will withstand high temperatures for maximum wear. The stainless steel backing plates on the brake pads will help prevent corrosion.

And we mentioned the KodaGuard plating on it, which will provide the excellent corrosion resistant for freshwater or saltwater use. This KodaGuard finish does have a 600-hour salt spray rating. And this caliper will include everything I got laid out here on the table. The stainless steel, the caliper itself, the stainless steel piston we mentioned, the dual port bleed screws, the two stainless steel guide bolts that are used to install this, and we mentioned the ceramic brake pads. Few specs on this, again, the application is for disc brakes with the axle ratings of 3,500 pounds up to 6,000 pounds and have the rotor diameters from 10 inches up to 12 inches.

But that should do it for the review on the Kodiak KodaGuard disc brake caliper for 3,500 pound to 6,000 pound axles..
