The description indicates this can be used for a standard ball coupler. I am trying to confirm that this can be used in both a pintle hitch application but also with a standard 2-5/16 Inch ball coupler.

Yes, the Buyers Products Trailer Hitch Ball item # 337RB2516 can be used with a standard ball couple when it is mounted with a Pintle Hook like the item # 337RM62516.

Just to add the Pintle hitch ball you were referencing the Buyers Products Replacement Ball item # 337RB2516 has a ball size that matches the standard type of hitch ball but the size of the shank is larger on a pintle. Standard balls typically use a shank with a diameter of 1" - 1-1/4" while a pintle ball shank is 1-1/8 inches in diameter. If you are attempting to use this hitch ball in anything other than a pintle mount it most likely will not fit. You would want the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter item # C40085 or the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter item # C40005.
