Is a Rubber Grommet Needed to Install Optronics Oval 10-LED Trailer Utility Light # BUL78CB

How are these grommets supposed to be used with the BUL78CB LED lights? The lights have a flange built around them but the light itself is too small for the mounting bracket.

The Optronics Oval 10-LED Trailer Utility Light, part # BUL78CB, is made with a built-in mounting flange for surface-mount installation where there is no cut-out for the fixture. This item includes both ground and positive wire leads that exit from the rear of the housing. This product does not require a rubber mounting grommet as do some similar products from Optronics, although we do offer a snap-on chrome-finish accent ring for it, part # A78CB.
For example, their # BUL72CB is a similar light that uses a grommet-mount, part # A70GB, and which also uses a standard 3-prong plug for connection.
The steel mounting bracket offered for Optronics 6-1/2-inch oval lights, part # BK70BB, is meant for use with the A70GB grommet and a light such as # BUL72CB that does not have a built-in mounting flange.
