To flat tow your 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, you'll want to follow these steps:
1. Place vehicle that is being towed behind the tow vehicle on a flat level surface.
2. Attach the vehicle being towed to the tow vehicle.
3. Put the parking brake on.
4.Shift transfer case into neutral, please note that there shouldn't be any movement of the vehicle while shifting.
5. Turn the engine off.
6. Disconnect the negative battery cable .
7. Shift the transmission into park.
8. Move the steering wheel to make sure the steering column is unlocked.
9. With a foot on the brake pedal, keep the ignition key in the towed vehicle in the ACC/ACCESSORY to prevent the steering column from locking.
As long as you follow these steps, you will not have any damage to your vehicle. It also should be noted that if your truck is 2WD that it should not be flat towed under any circumstances, as the drivetrain components could be damaged.
Additionally, if you do not want to constantly disconnect the negative battery cable each time you want to flat tow, you can install # RM-766 if you have a gas engine, or # DW05312 if you have a diesel engine.
