Hi, how do I open the battery box to access the battery in the Hopkins breakaway system as pictured.

You have to remove the top two bolts that hold the lid of the # 20099 to the base of it so that it can be pulled off and the battery can be accessed. It's like this as a theft deterrent for the battery.

You need a breakaway battery charger if you want to maintain the battery charge on your breakaway kit using your tow vehicle's 7-way trailer connector. The 12 volt battery on breakaway kits, like all batteries, will self-discharge over time.…
