I contacted Fleetwood RV, the maker of your 1989 Prowler 5th Wheel. Due to the age of the trailer they no longer have much information on it, but they advised that the original landing gear was electric (powered) and made by RBW. They could not tell me the weight of your 1989 5th wheel trailer nor the particular model nor weight rating of your landing gear.
AL-KO no longer manufactures replacement parts for RBW landing gear, but there are companies offering some parts. In order to identify correct replacement parts you will need to know the model number and capacity of your landing gear. Usually, you can find the model information directly on top of the jack or landing gear, or sometimes it is near the bottom of the outer tube. A third place to check would be the housing that covers the gears. If you cannot find it in any of these places, it may be in the owners manual literature.
To determine if you can just replace the inner parts and use your existing jack, you will want to inspect the whole jack to make sure everything is structurally sound. Replacing the internal components in landing gear is not very hard if you have some mechanical ability.
The set of landing gear you reviewed, part # RVLG-8000, is a set of manual (crank-powered) landing gear rated at 8000 lbs.
I have included a link to our product page for landing gear jacks where you can review various items in a range of capacities.
