Question:

Ok. So the roof of my camper shell is only 59” long by 50” wide approximately. So how long is the short universal backbone?

From the looks of your order, you purchased the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack for Factory Tracks - 2 Vortex Aero Crossbars - Black - 59" # Y02-490B-NT. For your ARE MX topper to use the feet from that system, Rhino-Rack recommends the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Roof Tray - Aluminum - 72" Long x 56" Wide # RR52TB. Since this is designed to work particularly with the Rhino-Rack Universal Modular Backbone Mounting System - Long # RR24AT with your topper tracks, using the feet from the # Y02-490B-NT will not be an engineered fit that Rhino-Rack has tested.

The great news is that I confirmed with my tech at Rhino-Rack that the # RR52TB does not require any additional spacers or extra hardware to mount onto the RLT legs. You can simply fasten the platform on top of your current legs and you are good to go.

I confirmed with Rhino-Rack that the Universal Modular Backbone - Short # RR57AT is 56-1/2 inches. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows this dimension.
