Question:
I understand how to measure and calculate what is needed for a hitch receiver but what about when the trailer is loaded and the back of the truck is weighed down? Causing the amount to change? I normally need a 5” with the trailer empty. Is it important to change the amount when the trailer is loaded down so that the trailer is still level? Is it better to have an adjustable mount for this reason or is it generally ok to tow with it loaded down even though it changes the amount? Thanks so much!!

You can always adjust your ball mount an inch or two higher than you normally have your ball mount when you know your trailer's going to be loaded down. If you are wanting to level out your 2004 Toyota Tacoma and utility trailer when it is fully loaded you will need to use a weight distribution system like the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 8,000 lbs GTW, 750 lbs TW item # BXW0750. The Blue Ox SwayPro uses optimal points of tension to help prevent trailer sway while it balances your trailer's load for a more level ride. The included shank fits 2" hitches and offers up to an 8" rise and a 2" drop.
