What Yakima Roof Rack Will Fit My 2018 Toyota 4Runner With Fixed Points
Question:
I am still searching for an alternative to extending the length of distance I can have for my roof rack system. The original rack is fairly short. I have yakima rack system for the original factory racks but I need to put another rack farther forward closer to the front edge of the drivers door. I had been told I could use the old Q clip towers with a 180 Q Clip but no one seems to have those clips. i was wondering if there is a through the roof attachment I can use that uses the recessed channel covered by the rubber/plastic moulding? And then perhaps mount a rack directly to that base?

After reading your question, it appears that you would like your front crossbar to be further forward on the roof of your vehicle. The Yakima system you are referencing, the old Q-tower system or its replacement the BaseLine system, are for naked roof applications. That does not apply to your vehicle. Your 2018 Toyota 4Runner has raised rails with fixed points, so a rack that attaches to the frame of your vehicle will not work. Your roof rack will attach via the Yakima Landing Pads which screw into the roof of your vehicle. But since the rack installs in fixed points, the crossbars will not be able to move further forward on your roof. The Yakima roof rack that you need for your vehicle will consist of the following:
Yakima CoreBar Crossbars - Steel - Black - 60" Long - Qty 2, part # Y00422,
SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Fixed Mounting Points, Flush Rails, and Track Systems - Qty 4, part # Y53TR,
Landing Pad 29 for Yakima SkyLine And Control Towers - Qty 4, part # Y85ZR, and
Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores (QTY 4), part # Y07204.
This roof rack has a weight limit of 165 lbs. I went with the 60" CoreBar to give you the room you need. Please keep in mind the 50" CoreBar crossbars, part # Y00421, will also work with your vehicle. I also included the Yakima Same Key System Lock Cores so you can lock this rack to your vehicle.
I have included product description links, a video installation link, video review links, and a picture of this rack on a 2018 Toyota 4Runner below.
