Can I Use Snow Tire Chains With My 2016 Chevrolet Suburban With 265/60 R20 Tires

Published 12/31/2021

Question:

I own a 2016 Suburban 3500HD. It is the rare 1 ton version of the factory suburban. It has a curb weight of 10,000 pounds. The vehicle is equipped with 4wd and rides on 265/60 R20 all-weather tires. I need chains for occasional on-road use in snow and ice and want to make sure I purchase a high quality product that will last. Please advise.

I checked the owner's manual of your 2016 Chevrolet Suburban 3500HD and there is an issue with using snow tire chains on your vehicle, with these tires. Your tires are larger than the tires Chevrolet says you should not use with snow tire chains.

We do offer snow tire chains that fit those size tires, such as the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit XXL - Size K79, part # KON24FR, or the Glacier V-Bar Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners - 1 Pair, part # PWH2828SC, you attached to your question. However, if you use either of these snow tire chains you will be assuming the risk that comes with it. I recommend checking your clearances around the tire and your wheel well first, before you make a decision. With regard to your vehicle's curb weight, that should not be an issue. Your issue will revolve wheel well tolerances.

I have included a product description link and a video review of the Glacier V-Bar Snow Tire Chains below.
