Will Hitch Installed on 2022 Tiguan SEL Affect Hand-Free Liftgate Operation

Question:
My SEL has a foot operated electronic hatch opener. Will the hitch interrupt the use of this option? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
The liftgate will still work, just not in the area under the center of the bumper.
When installed on your 2022 # e43ZR WV Tiguan, the trailer brand Class III will partially affect the sensors for the hands-free liftgate feature, but only in the center in the bumper. The sensors will work to the left and right of the hitch receiver tube as shown in the provided photo.
