Question:

We have a 2021 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring with the hands free hatch feature. I need a hitch but worried about the hands free hatch not working. What can you recommend?

Expert Reply:

I suggest the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 76020. When installed it won't completely prevent the sensors from picking up movement but you will need to kick at either side instead of the middle. So the feature will still function, just with a more limited kick area for the sensor. Please note the attached image.

If you will be using the hitch to tow instead of just accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. I suggest the following items too. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118278. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's factory wiring harness located in your rear cargo area.

Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 2" Hitches, # 2753 along with Pin and Clip, # PC3 and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch hitch ball.
