Best Hitch Available For A 2021 Mazda 3 Hatchback To Tow A Small Trailer
Question:
I'm looking to tow a small trailer with my 2021 Mazda 3 hatchback. Nothing to crazy though. Will weigh no more than 1,200 pounds. I have the Tekonsha wiring picked out, but I saw 2 hitches come up and wasn't sure which to go with. Would prefer the most heavy duty option I can go with.

As your 2021 Mazda 3 is the hatchback version, you will need the Curt # C98BR. The other hitch that comes up ( # 24982) will be specific to the sedan model, so it will not fit your vehicle. With that said, this will be rated up to 2,000 pounds towing and 200 pounds of tongue weight, so it will definitely handle the trailer you are looking to tow.
The Tekonsha # 118808 wiring harness would have been the one I was going to recommend so you are good to go there. Though one wire will need to be run up to the batter for needed power, the rest is plug and play and will be a quick and easy install.
The last things you will need are a ball mount, pin and clip, and a ball. The correct ball mount will depend on how tall the trailer coupler sits and how high the inside of the receiver opening of the hitch sits from the ground once installed. As an example, if the hitch measurement is 12" and the trailer coupler is 16", you will want to use something like the # 3594. This has 4" of rise and will get you perfectly level, though you do have +/- 1.5" to still technically be level so you do have some wiggle room. This also includes the pin and clip, which is nice. All you need after this is a ball.
This will also depend on the trailer coupler, but for something this size, you will most likely need the 1-7/8" # 19256. This bolts onto the # 3594 ball mount and will complete your towing set up.
