I can definitely get you set up to tow a boat trailer with your 2021 Ford Explorer. You will need a few things for this setup: a hitch receiver, a ball mount, and a 4-way wiring harness.
The first thing you will need is a hitch receiver. I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2", part # 76320. This hitch receiver has a maximum tongue weight of 600 lbs and a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs.
Once you have the hitch receiver, in place we can move to the next item on the list. You will need a ball mount to connect your boat trailer to the tow vehicle. I recommend the Draw-Tite Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs, part # DT49MR. This can be changed depending on how much rise or drop you need for your boat trailer.
Since you do not have a factory tow package for your 2021 Ford Explorer, you will need a general wiring harness. I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part # 118599. It does not require splicing into your vehicles lights. It is a plug and play system in that regard.
The last item I recommend whenever someone is doing some wiring installation is dielectric grease. The grease will help fight corrosion in your system. The part numbers are Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz. part # 11755.
I have included product description links, installation video links, and video review links below.
