minimum and maxium plate mounting thickness?

The mounting surface can not be thicker than half an inch (1/2 inch or .5 inches).
I went to the warehouse to measure the Buyers Products 25 Ton Swivel Type Pintle Hook # 337BP200 myself. The distance between the mounting surfaces had half an inch of distance between the two and could go no wider.
With any towing product and attachment you should be safe and use a mounting structure of sufficient strength to
support the rated capacity of the pintle hook in accordance with S.A.E. J 849B. Just because the hook can handle 25 tons doesn't been the material it is bolted to can.
