If you want your vehicle to keep its clean look when you’re not towing, this base plate makes it happen. The hidden design keeps the brackets tucked out of sight, and the removable arms twist out easily when you’re done towing. When they’re off, the receivers sit flush with the front end, so nothing sticks out to bump into. Receiver covers are included to keep out dirt and road debris and give the setup a finished appearance.
Connecting your tow bar couldn’t be simpler. Each arm slides into the receiver and locks with a quick twist—no tools or complicated steps. When it’s time to unhook, pull the pin, twist again, and lift the arms free. The design makes solo hook-ups faster and keeps everything tight and secure for towing. The distance between brackets is 30-1/2" and bracket height is 13-1/2", so you can line up your tow bar accurately.
This base plate bolts straight to the chassis using the included hardware and doesn’t require any welding. The heavy-duty steel build spreads towing forces evenly across multiple mounting points to reduce stress on your suspension. Powder-coated steel resists rust and corrosion, giving you a reliable setup that holds strong through long hauls.
Already have a tow bar? This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection. It can also be used with Roadmaster or Demco tow bars when paired with the correct adapter—Roadmaster (RM-031 or RM-031-5) or Demco (DM9523041), each sold separately. Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector bracket (sold separately) so your wiring stays organized and accessible.
The design keeps installation simple. It bolts directly to existing chassis points without any welding, using the supplied mounting hardware for a solid fit. Once installed, you’ve got a strong connection built for repeated use and backed by a 3-year warranty for extra peace of mind.

The base plate was a fairly easy install especially with all of the information available on my 2021 GMC Canyon Denali. After about 6000 miles of being towed I am very happy with base plate & mostly hidden installation.
A one-year update on the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit: Since installing the base plate last year, we have towed the Canyon Denali approximately 20k miles. Obviously, we have connected/disconnected the truck many times. There have been absolutely no issues with the setup - very easy connect and easy disconnect. And the truck tows like a dream! I am very pleased with the setup and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a superior towing system.
I installed these on my 2020 GMC Canyon. Installation was a big job, but with the instructions and video from etrailer, it went very smoothly. They are working great, and we have had no problems with our Blue-Ox tow system.
