Does Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller Allow 12 Volt Power Circuit to Pass Through
Updated 09/07/2021 | Published 09/04/2021 >
Question:
Hi, I’m assuming that the controller passes the voltage that feeds an onboard trailer battery black wire in pigtail. I’m wondering if there is a limitation of how many amps that circuit is able to pass through the echo device? I plan to purchase a DC-DC charger and I don’t want to purchase something with a current level that may damage the echo. Thanks!

The Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 does pass the 12 volt power circuit through it to the rest of the trailer wiring. It does use this circuit for powering the trailer brakes though so if you are wanting to put a decent charge on your trailer brakes it would take away from that to a certain extent.
A better option would be a traditional brake controller like the Brake EVN # TK63VR that way the charge circuit would not be affected.
