Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver Compatibility For a 2001 Ford F-150 4X4

Updated 08/31/2021 | Published 08/30/2021

Question:

I have a 2001 4x4 F-150 and I want to install a front receiver hitch. Your site suggests that part 65025 is the correct fit. I have not yet ordered it. I looked at the installation instructions linked to your product listing and at the front of the frame of the truck. Installation instructions suggest that no drilling is necessary but it sure looks to me like there are no existing holes in the front of the frame that match what the installation instructions suggest are there. In short, is this actually the correct product for my purposes and is it possible drilling the frame will actually be required? Im not opposed to drilling the frame if the part is the correct one. The space between the front frame members a measurement I assume to be the most important one for the compatibility of this product is 28 3/16. Attached is a photo of the inside of one of the frame members that a front receiver would attach to. The recovery eye is shown for orientation.

The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65025 is the correct fit for your 2001 Ford F-150. I do understand your confusion as this receiver does use multiple mounting holes for different model years and the instructions do not include photos of the frame but use engineer drawings. There is no drilling required as it uses existing holes that are already in your frame. With the image that you sent you can see the rear hole that uses the spacers to attach to the receiver to your frame. The front hole cannot be seen as the fascia is in the way.
