I purchased guide-on bunks to facilitate the loading of my pontoon from the lake onto my trailer. The hardware included two kinds of u-bolts. One kind is a standard u-bolt The other kind has an indentation in the center of the crossbar. The instructions showed that the u-bolts should be crossed when installed on the frame of the trailer.
But crossing the u-bolts is impossible if the frame is three inches wide. I learned that for frames that are three inches wide, the u-bolts should NOT be crossed. I learned this only by finding on U-Tube a demonstration of the installation. The instructions should have made this point clear.
On a separate matter, the representative who took my order, Bryan, provided excellent service.
Perfect, just what was needed. installation took 20-minutes, and back in the water !
very prompt shipping. Appears to be just as ordered (not installed yet).
The bunks worked great. Boat went on the trailer nice.... fixed my issues 100 percent.
Product sturdier than i imagined. Installed so easily. had to get the longer u bolts for my frame. 60" was perfect for my 21' boat. Very happy with delivery and tracking ability. I am a new and satisfied customer.
After looking at multiple local stores, I turned to etrailer.com. The product was exactly what I was looking for and great quality. I know where to shop first next time.

Great

Product worked perfectly as advertised. Outstanding rapid service from etrailer.com.
These have worked very well. We needed the larger size in order to mount the trailer guides on our boat trailer.

I'm happy to hear these are fitting your needs Fred! Do you have any upcoming boating adventures planned for this upcoming season?
Did not like the fact that the kit came with 5 U bolts and had to pay an additional $XX for 6” U Bolts. Apso, had to throw away the 5” U bolts which was a waste.
All that needed to be done was to offer a 5” kit and a 6” kit. Then customer can select t desired kit. No waste of U Bolts. . No additional $XX charge. Appears to be marketing gimmick to over charge customers. The U bolt kit worked fine, fit well, and was of reasonable quality.
They worked as expected no problems.
Parts exactly as needed
This was exactly the part i needed
2x5” square frame. 1.5x1.5” mounting bracket
Thank you Stacey for the assist!
Once i received my 6" ubolts i was able to install my guides on my trailer.
parts arrived on times very satisfied with the service i will buy from e-trailer again
Excellent product. Just as advertised. Easy to install solo and made of solid materials. Haven’t used to pull boat out yet, but can’t imagine it won’t guide me in great. I used the extra long U-bolt kit because of my trailer being 6 inches. Not sure why they wouldn’t just include them from the beginning as they are only a 1/2 “ longer, but that’s the way it goes. Very satisfied
I updated my trailer by adding a set of guide-ons and its been a real plus especially on breezy days or loading /unloading by myself.
These longer U bolts allowed us to attach the trailer guides that our new BEAR trailer did not come with. The trailer guides are a game changer when putting our Bennington Tri-toon on the trailer, especially in the wind with the bimini tops up.
They bent and did not keep their shape
The Post Guide-Ons arrived quickly and have been installed.
They have not been water tested yet, but look like they will do the trick. Loading the boat on the trailer has been challenging when you can’t tell where you are side to side.
A couple things to consider: The width of the boat relative to the frame of the trailer make the bottom tubes of the guides just barely long enough. I believe it will work, but another inch of tube would be good for my setup. When installing, if you have a deep socket, you won’t have to switch to an open wrench. Other than that, I am very happy with these!
Installed the guides on my pontoon trailer yesterday (9-30-25).
Fairly easy to install w/ an extra pair of hands. Only complaint is attempting to seat the top caps. Had to use a rubber mallet to try to get it on the pole (using light taps),and promptly split the cap down the side. I understand the necessity of tight tolerances, but this borders on bad geometries. Cap is basically the same diameter as the pole.
Exactly what I needed! My boat trailer was too tall for the u-bolts that came with the CE Smith trailer guides but these extra-long bolts worked great. Arrived faster than expected too. Thanks guys!

Great! Works as well as the day I installed it. Excellent solid product and purchase.

I have a welded aluminum boat with extended transom. I really needed some Guide-Ons mounted at the rear of the trailer to ensure that the extended transom centered up on the trailer bunks, as cross currents at the haul out would often skew the boat to one side, and I would need to back down in to the water and re-center. Frustrating when people are waiting in line!!
I got the CE Smith Guide-Ons, but was dismayed when I opened the box and found that the included U-Bolts were not long enough for my 5 inch EZ Loader trailer frame. A quick search of etrailer and I found the solution with the Extra Long Bolt Kit.
Worked perfectly. Now my boat stays centered when I haul out on the first try.
Just the right size for the trailer!

Still as good as the day i put them on. Makes it easier to see the back of the trailer in the water or backing up without the boat. Plus its been nicer to keep the boat centered on the trailer when driving it on!

The extra long U bolts met the need I had to move my C E Smith trailer guides to the new trailer. They seem to be fine but the 2 minor complaints are: a) the U bolts should include fastening nuts and b) I wish these U bolts were a bit more heavy duty. These appear to me as the bare minimum in strength.
Overall I would say a good product. Maybe not quite rigid enough for my heavier boat, but does its job. I made sleeves for the guides because the pvc tubes were leaving scuff marks on my paint

I have spoken with my contacts at CE Smith and these should work for their guide ons, and they do need to be crossed for a correct install. The flat u-bolt should be mounted closest to trailer frame then the indented/formed on should be installed over the flat one.
