Question:
I have a Thule Vertex Swing Away 9031 2 inch bike rack. I may possibly need an adapter for a vehicle I am buying that has a 1 1/14 inch hitch. If I purchase this vehicle, what do you recommend I buy that will work for my 2 inch hitch bike rack? TIA

You can either enter your new vehicle into our fit guide and find a 2" trailer hitch receiver, or you can add an adapter like Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD. The only downside to using this adapter, which would give you a 2" opening, is that it reduces your hitch's overall capacity by 50% which is typically not going to leave enough capacity for your bike rack and bikes. That said, it may work fine as long as you don't exceed half of your trailer hitch receiver's limit.
Lastly, you can find a different bike rack that is compatible with a 1-1/4" receiver, such as the RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY10003 or install a roof rack for a roof-mounted bike rack like Thule UpRide Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount # TH599000.
