Question:

What combination would you suggest for a two-wheel trailer weighing up to 1800 lbs total for cross-country interstate travel using 5-bolt 2-5/8” 8-inch rims. Tire width is not an issue. The total diameter is best kept near 18”. I want to build in some longevity for hauling this utility box around the country. Thank you.

I recommend the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # AM30155 which has a load rating of 1075lbs at 100 PSI, but the wheel is limited to 910lbs each so that would be the actual max rating as you are limited to the lowest rated component.

Since some of the weight of your 1800lb trailer will be tongue weight and not on the wheels, this will be plenty for your trailer. This tire has an 18" overall diameter like you mentioned you wanted and carries a 1 year warranty on the wheel and 5 year tire warranty.

This wheel has the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern you mentioned you were needing.
