looking for a repair kit for model DL1402, All I see is kit for 1402A. Is there one available ?

I have a replacement winch option for you, but unfortunately your Dutton-Lainson DL1402 not having the A means it was made between 1991-1999. Unfortunately the rebuild kit for these older winches was discontinued a while back.
The only option would be to replace the entire winch. I recommend going with the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL15303 which is the newer model 1402A. It will be an exact replacement, and has the same 1400lb load rating.
This winch can either use 1/4" cable, or a strap like the # DL24260.
