i received my thule fat tire wheel holder for T2 kit and the straps are about 3 inches to short for 3inch tires, any suggestions ?

Sounds like you have a Thule T2 Classic part # TH9045 and you have the fat tire adapter part # 7521568001 but not the fat tire strap adapter part # 8527642001.
