Cost Effective Way To Tow 5th Wheel Trailer With 2003 Ford F-250 6' Bed With B&W Turnoverball

Published 07/21/2021

Question:

I have a 2003 f250 6’ bed with bandw 1108r turnoverball hitch. What would you recommend the most economical route to pull a 5th wheel camper with my truck? I was thinking a strait gooseneck adapter with a 4” off set ball? Thanks

For a cost effective way to tow your 5th wheel trailer with your 2003 Ford F-250 6' bed with the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1108 installed would be adding the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset for Short-Bed Trucks # AM3139 on your pin box and the gooseneck ball included with the hitch.

This will give you 8" of offset which will be decent for cab to trailer clearance, but will not give you a full 90 degrees of turning clearance. That is not necessarily a bad thing just something you will need to go into a parking lot with a buddy and drive around while you find the limits of your setup. This setup has other benefits like not having to remove a heavy 5th wheel hitch when you need to use the bed of your truck.

The only way to make sure your can get more turning clearance would be B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3400-5W which gives 12" of fore and aft travel which would be the best option.

Lastly you will also want to add the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 7' Long # C56070 to the bed of your truck to give you a spot to plug in your trailer.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
