Replacement 5-Leaf 27 Long Slipper Leaf Springs For 7,000lb Trailer Axle

Question:
I have a tandem axle trailer. GAWR for each axle is 7000 lb. I presently have 5 spring slip springs that measure about 27inch from the center of the front bolt to the rear of the slip turn down. See lower photos. It has 3inch axles. I am looking at your 5-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Hook End for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26-5/8inch Long. Item # SP-232275. I am concerned if the 26-5/8inch long spring will bee too short. Your thoughts Thanks

Expert Reply:
The 5-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Hook End for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles # e74SR does appear to be the most likely to fit your suspension system. It is common for old springs to become wore out and sag. When they do this the overall length that you are measuring will become a little longer.
As we know the length from center of eyelet to center of axle pin is 12" following the curve of the spring and that the center of the axle pin to the end of the spring is 16-1/16" following the curve. This may be the better measurements to confirm that you have the correct replacement. As the spring sags and wears these measurements will not change. Since you will not be able to see the axle pin you can measure the overall length following the curve of the spring and should end up with 28-1/6".
