Looking For Replacement Slipper Springs For My 7k Dexter Axle
Updated 08/28/2025 | Published 08/25/2025 >
Question:
I have a hurst over the wheels gooseneck trailer I’m redoing the suspension on, underside is heavily rusted meaning couldn’t find no id tags on axles. They are supposed to be 7k dexter axles, it has 8 lug wheels. My problem is the springs, slipper springs on trailer measure at 27 3/8 in. I can not find anything close that’s for a 7k axle. Is this a discontinued part? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Daniel,
Chances are your slipper spring has flattened out over time and is longer than it originally was. Typically an older trailer that may not have had its suspension replaced anytime recently is around an inch longer than it was originally. With that said I do have a slipper spring for a 7k axle that is 26-5/6" long, which is probably what yours were originally. I will add you should replace both springs at the same time, you always should replace a minimum of 2 on your trailer. Those springs are # e74SR, and if they were to be installed the equalizer and shackle straps would adjust for the difference in size.
Are you looking to replace all the suspension components or just the springs for now?
