Can Demco Recon Fifth Wheel Hitch be Used with Reese Sidewinder Pin Box

Question:

Hi there Can I use the universal wedge that came with the Reese sidewinder until I order a custom wedge for the Demco Recon hitch. I am also seeing conflicting information online about which one is the correct wedge for it. Based on previous queries on your site it looks like its SWW-05. But there is also Reese 68204 which also shows that its for use with Demco hitches. Can you please clarify. Thanks

Well so the problem is that the Demco Recon hitches are not rated for use with rotating pin boxes like the Reese Sidewinders. The twisting torque that the Sidewinders create is too much for the narrower "neck" of the Recon hitches so you'd need to go with a fixed hitch like the Reese # RP30047 to use with the Sidewinder. Then for a custom wedge for that you could use the part # SWW-03 and you could use the universal wedge in the meantime.
