Question:
Hi. Im looking for ways to help control sway for boat+motor+trailer which weighs about 2700 lbs. Im not sure of the exact tongue weight but estimate it to be around 200 lbs. I have an older boat trailer circa 1982 that has two overlapping center tongue? beams. With the overlap starting 16inch from the hitch location. There is 1/2inch of space between the upper and lower 2x3inch beams. So in effect would that be considered a 6 1/2 inch deep beam? Its a pretty unique setup see below pics. Is there an adapter I could use to attach the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy - by Draw-Tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch Item # 83660? Or would attaching something like a Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems EQ95-01-5950 work? Would it have to attach to the lower beam which is the one containing the hitch ball couple?. Maybe there is an adapter to handle a 6 1/2inch tongue or could I get one made? If not, could I get a bracket made that would give me the additional 1/2 inch or so? Please advise. Perhaps I would need to get someone to custom-weld something to attach to a weight distribution hitch? Im currently considering one of your Fastway E2 WD hitches FA94-00=0600.

have a solution for you, but you won't be able to use the Equal-i-zer or Fastway becaus the Equal-i-zer bracket # EQ95-01-5950 is not tall enough to accommodate the taller tongue.
Because of the height of the two straight tongue sections you'll need to go with the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW # RP58393, which can be used on dual tongues up to 8-3/8" tall and up to 4-9/16" wide. This adapter is compatible with Reese weight distribution systems like the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 4K GTW, 400 TW # 66557, which would do a good job with a smaller trailer like this and comes with strong trunnion bars to help prevent sway.
I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out.
