Question:
I have a 2012 VW Jetta Sedan and I am concerned about the clearance from the hitch to the ground. I have a driveway with a slight incline. Can you give me an idea of how many inches is the clearance.

When installed on your 2012 Volkswagen Jetta the top of the receiver tube of the Curt Hitch # C11474 will sit just below the bottom of the bumper fascia. The exact height above the ground will be a function of several factors, including the tread depth on your tires and the passenger and cargo load in the vehicle at any given time. I have included a link to an installation video for this hitch on a newer model of your vehicle.
The top of the receiver openings on the 2017 model is measured to be 9-3/4 inches above ground level.
If you plan to use accessory items such as bike or cargo carriers with the receiver, since these extend back from the hitch, you may then find that you have clearance issues between these items and your driveway. If you will be towing a trailer, the tongue weight of the particular trailer on the ball mount will also affect clearance.
If you need a ball mount for towing, I suggest part # 3593. This includes the necessary pin and clip. Hitch balls you can use are part # 19256 for 1-7/8 ball size and # 19258 for 2-inch ball size. The wiring harness for your 2012 Jetta Sedan is part # 118572. I have included two articles on towing basics that may be helpful to you.
