The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 will have a single blue light that stays on even when the trailer is not connected. You will have two blue dots if the boost is on, but only one if the boost is not on. So what you are seeing is normal and you should also note that after several minutes the controller goes into sleep mode which prevents battery drain.
