Upgrading Suspension System on 2018 Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer

Updated 05/20/2021 | Published 05/19/2021

Question:

Not sure where to take any of the measurements from. I have a 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2600 RB Travel trailer. where do you measure the width of the spring at the leaf or eye? What points do I measure axle spacing? Pointers on any other measurements please

For your 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2600RB you will need to measure the axle spacing by finding 2 common points on your axles to measure between. Generally this is done by measuring from center of one axle to the center of the 2nd axle. I never like this as they are difficult to get an accurate measurement. I prefer to measure from the u-bolts front to rear axle or the tires as long as they both have even wear.

Since you are looking to replace the equalizer I recommend measuring the equalizer as sometimes the suggested axle measurements can be different with different length leaf springs.

The Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers # K71-359-00 that you referenced will have an equalizer that is 5-3/4" from center of front hole to center of the back hole.

The Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-652-00 will feature an upgraded equalizer that will reduce road shock in the suspension system. This kit will work if you have the 5-3/4" equalizer.

If your Imagine has the larger 7-11/16" equalizer, the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-653-00 is the kit that you should use.

All double eye trailer springs are 1-3/4" wide. The measurement should be the same throughout the spring as well.
