Question:
Whats the best sway pro set up to use with a Honda Ridgeline 5000 pulling an airstream Bambi trailer - 3500 lb GVWR and hitch weight 430. 2 5/16 ball. Airstream dealer recommends a sway/weight distribution set up. Internet says not to use a weight distributing hitch on the ridgeline because improperly adjusted may reduce handling stability and braking performance. Is that true? Thanks

I would be happy to help you find the correct Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution hitch for towing your Airstream Bambi with your 2019 Honda Ridgeline, but you will need to confirm your total tongue weight.
Total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to tow trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your Ridgeline. The easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight measurement is using a tongue weight scale like the # e99044 but there are other ways outlined in the included help article.
More than likely you will need the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 6,000 lbs GTW, 550 lbs TW # BXW0556 which works with total tongue weights between 350-550lbs. Since this hitch does not include a hitch ball you will need the 2-5/16" # 19286 to match the coupler on your trailer.
If your total tongue weight exceeds 550lbs then you will need to step up to the # BXW0750 which works with total tongue weights between 550-750lbs. This option also does not include a hitch ball so you will still need # 19286.
Regarding not using a weight distribution hitch, it is possible that an incorrectly setup weight distribution hitch could cause issues which is why it is important to read through the instruction manual when setting up the hitch.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.

I have a Mazda CX90 Turbo 3.3 plus with tow package installed (500 Tongue/5,000Lbs). From what you answered this looks like the WDH for me. However, it looks like that recommended position of the clamps at 28 to 29 inches won't work because of the 2024 Airstream Bambi 16RB placement of the propane tanks and lithium batteries (solar package). Are there work arounds of mitigation for this that you can share? Thank you.
