Fifth Wheel Installation Kits for a 2012 Ram 2500 with an 8 ft Bed

Question:

I have a 20k reese fifth wheel kit that was mounted on my 2006 Ford F250. I want to mount the fifth wheel on my new 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 with an 8 foot bed. I need mounting instructions to do this. Do I also need different brackets?

You can mount your 20K Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch in your new 2012 Ram 2500, but you will need new frame brackets. The frame brackets that are on your 2006 Ford F-250 will not fit on your new Ram 2500.

There are two bracket kits available for your Ram 2500. For custom brackets, you can use part # RP50140. These brackets will fit trucks with or without overload springs, but it will not fit gas models with overload springs.

If your truck is a gas model with overload springs, then you will need the semi-custom bracket kit, # RP30035-186. Both of these bracket kits work with 10-bolt base rails (see photo).

Along with these brackets, I recommend getting the replacement hardware kit for 10-bolt base rails, # RP58430. Reese does not recommend reusing the old hardware when transferring kits between trucks.

I have attached the installation instructions for each bracket kit that I have mentioned.
