Can Weight Distribution and Air Bag Suspension Enhancement Work Together and Which to Setup First
Updated 04/29/2021 | Published 04/28/2021 >
Question:
Sir / Madam, I currently have a Blue Ox weight distribution hitch and am purchasing the Firestone air bags for my 21 GMC Sierra 1500. My question is how do I set up the air bags and weight distribution hitch together? Do you have a procedure on which item to setup first? Does it matter? I have to redo the Blue Ox setup on this truck as it sits lower than the last truck I had. So at this point I would like to install the air bags then make all the setup changes needed with the hitch and air bags. Regards,

Expert Reply:
Air bag suspension like the Firestone # F2609 and weight distribution can work great together but the trick is to inflate the air bags to the desired pressure first and then follow the setup procedure for the weight distribution to set the spring bar tension. This will give you the best support and ride quality.
