Question:

can sumosprings SS45FR be used in a 2025 1500 Denali with Adaptive Ride Control? This post from Conner L. says no: question-657703 But this post from Samuel C. says yes: question-541052

Hi Brian; the SumoSprings # SS45FR will not fit your 2025 Sierra 1500 with Adaptive Ride Control. The answer from Sam is a little older and probably written before anyone knew about the restriction. I went ahead and corrected it, thank you for pointing this out. However, that doesn't solve the problem of suspension enhancement for your truck.

The only option is the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2609. If you don't mind monitoring the pressure in the air bags these are the way to go. You can adjust them based on what you're towing/hauling so you have the perfect amount of support. The air bags can also run at the minimum 5 psi so they won't impact unloaded ride quality. If you want to be able to adjust them from the cab of the truck you will also want an air compressor like the # AL25980.

Thanks Robin. This is helpful. Looking at the physical space it appears that the Sumo spring will fit, but it appears that it will interfere with how the Denali active suspension works. I am reading more into the airbag option and it seems there are some posts about the 3.0 diesel exhaust pipes interfering with this kit. I do have the Duramax 3.0 diesel, but the newer LZO version. Not sure if the exhaust routing is the same. Do you know if this will still for for my 2025 1500 Sierra Denali 3.0 Duramax?

@BrianP ah yeah, I did fail to leave that out. Unfortunately, the air bags are not compatible with the diesel engine. That leaves you with the RAS so the choice is basically made for you. The good news is that is a nice system that works really well. Hopefully you don't have the composite mono leaf spring too!

@RobinH thanks for the clarification. Can you help explain what the 3,000 lbs rating ing means? The rear axle is currently 3,800 lbs which I am at max load which is why I am looking for something to help with sag. If I add these does that mean I will reduce the rear axle load down to 3,000? Also, I saw a different brand of air shocks (air lift load lifter) which looks like it has different mounting brackets. The description does not called out if I can or cannot work with diesel and ARC. Do you happen to know ? Thanks

@BrianP those air bags you're looking at are specifically made for AT4/Trail Boss models. The 3,000 lb rating is listed as a capacity but really I would call it support. For this particular product that capacity is listed like that to help understand the support it will add to the leaf springs. RAS doesn't even list a rating on their site since the focus is on the fact that it increases the rear suspension strength up to 50%. They mount on the leaf springs, and you can expect the same weight on the leaf springs, but now those leaf springs are supported by this system. This keeps them from flattening out when you're towing or hauling heavy loads since the leaf springs aren't designed to handle that on their own. Since they aren't flattening out under the heavy weight you won't get that rear sag and the truck will stay level. Hopefully that makes sense.
