Curt C11454 Class I Hitch and Hands Free Trunk Sensor Compatibility-2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Wagon

Question:
Does installing a hitch interfere with the ability to operate the hands free trunk opening feature on my vehicle? Currently, I can place my foot under the rear bumper and the trunk opens. If I install this hitch #C11454 will I still be able to use that feature? I have a 2018 Mercedes E400 Wagon. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
Curt has had no reports of their # C11454 Class I hitch preventing the hands-free liftgate of the Mercedes E400 wagon from working. However, it's pretty typical that the presence of the hitch will prevent the sensors from picking up movement at the middle of the bumper. In that case, moving your foot a foot or so left or right of the hitch receiver tube will allow the sensors to pick up the movement.
