Can Motorcycle Battery Be Used to Power Fulton F141401 Powered Side-Mount Trailer Jack
Updated 03/31/2021 | Published 03/29/2021 >
Question:
Could I power this jack with a motorcycle size battery rather than auto size battery? My boat trailer has a tongue weight of 1100 lbs. Would this electric jack handle this much weight?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Fulton # F141401 XLT Powered side-mount trailer jack has a lift capacity of 2500 lbs, so it will handle your trailer's 1100 lb tongue weight with no problem whatsoever.
The jack draws 15 amps, and you'd want a battery that had a minimum 150 amp hour capacity for best function. You'll find that you won't get very many cycles out of the motorcycle battery before needing to recharge it. You'll be better off using a car battery instead.
