How To Mount The Thule Criterium 598 Bike Rack Onto Yakima Jetstream Crossbars

Question:

I have a Thule Criterium 598 and love it. I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Kona EV which cannot be equipped with roof rails and currently, Thule has not solution for, not even a naked roof solution. Sooooo, I purchased Yakima Baseline and jetstream crossbars. I was quite confident and then confirmed that the 598 cannot be secured wrappedinch around the crossbars. But, previous homework indicates that maybe, maybe I can utilize the T-track in the Jetstreams with the 598. Would the Xadapt8 allow me to do so? Thank you for your expertise!

Yes, you are absolutely right. The Thule Xadapt8 AeroBlade and Xsporter Load Bar Adapter # Xadapt8 for your Criterium 598 bike rack is compatible with Yakima Jetstream crossbars with the top track. Luckily, the common roof rack brands all use the same universal T-slot channel which is helping you out in this situation. There have been some accessories that did not fit the common T-slot channel but usually you can file down the T-bolt ever so slightly in order to get the T-bolt to fit the channel; however, that should not be necessary in this case and it should fit just fine for you.
