Question:
Hi E-Trailer, First, I have to let you know that I appreciate your helpful answers and reviews. My question is for the experts regarding suspension enhancement/upgrade for our 2021 GMC Sierra CC SRW standard bed when we pull our 41 Grand Designs 16K fifth wheel. I noticed when we hook up the rear is squatting and the ride seems to be degraded. What products would you recommend that would address this issue with the least amount of maintenance and ease of installation. I have been looking at several products that may work however reading the reviews, even among the experts am unsure which product or products would solve our issue. Also doesnt seem to be any reviews with our specific truck. We love the ride of the truck when not towing. Thank You

We can get your 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 with a single rear wheel set up with an outstanding suspension enhancement option that will help your truck's sag, improve it's handling, won't negatively affect your unloaded ride, is simple to install relative to other options, and requires no maintenance whatsoever. The best enhancement option for your truck that meets all these criteria is the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit.
There are two options for you, depending on if your 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 has factory overload springs or not. It likely does, but you'll want to take a quick look, and you can use the accompanying photo; there will be a spring sitting up above the leaf spring pack. From there you can determine the correct kit:
- WITH Overload Springs: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-CHD
- WITHOUT Overload Springs: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-HD
The reason the RAS is the best is because it is an active system which works to continually reinforce your original leaf spring suspension. What that means is the force normally put on your Sierra's current leaf springs will be transferred to the RAS Enhancement Kit, allowing your leaf springs to work normally.
So what will happen when you hook up your 5th wheel is the RAS kit is going to take the weight that your leaf springs normally would; normally what will happen is your leaf springs would flatten, causing sag and poor handling. The RAS kit will actively counteract that, giving your Sierra better traction and handling because it allows your front wheels to stay completely on the ground instead of being slightly raised under the weight of the 5th wheel.
I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the RAS kit.
