Mounting Adapter and Lock for a Yakima ButtonDown Ski Carrier on Square Bars

I have a Yakama Button Down 6 ski rack that I would like to mount to a Thule square bar system. I need it to be secure from theft. Do you have a mounting adaptor that will work for me?

I called Yakima to find which part you needed.

For your older ButtonDown ski rack, you can you the Replacement Mounting Hardware for Yakima Roof Mounted Ski and Snowboard Carriers, part # 8830021. The only thing you will need to do to use this with square bars is remove the circular plastic piece that makes this hardware compatible with round bars. Once that is removed, it is compatible with square bars.

Unfortunately, this hardware is not compatible with any locks, so you can't added any lock cores to it. To ensure that the carrier can't be removed from the crossbars, you could use something like the RockyMounts Curly Combination Cable Lock, part # RKY3700, and wrap it around the carrier. The benefit of using this is that it's a number lock, so you won't need an additional key to sort through for unlocking. I've linked to a video review of this cable for you to look at.
