Can I Use the Dexter EZ Flex Equalizers with 3500-lbs Axles
Updated 01/24/2021 | Published 01/22/2021 >
Question:
Its unclear to me if the dexter K71-652-00 is rated for 6000# max combined, or 6000# max per axle. My existing equalizer size matches the k71-652-00, but my axles are rated for 3500 each. 2018 Forest River Surveyor 295qble 7700 GVWR equalizers on there now are eq-104 Axle spacing is 31 Spring length is 23 1/8

I can understand why this might be confusing, and the Dexter EZ Flex # K71-652-00 will work with axles that have capacities up to 6000-lbs, so you would be under that capacity with your 3500-lbs axles. With that said, there will be some additional dimensions you want to confirm on the trailer to make sure it's going to work.
In order to make sure this system is completely compatible you will need to be confirm a few measurements. You'll want to be sure you are using 9/16" shackle bolts and you will also need a distance of 5-1/4" to 6-1/4" from the center of each bolt hole on the bottom two bolt holes of the equalizer. The last measurement you will need to find is the height of the brackets from the center of either side of the bottom two bolt holes to the center of the top bolt hole. This measurement will need to be around 2".
I've linked a review video of this equalizer system for you to check out, as well.
