Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Compatibility with Ford, GM, and Dodge Integrated Brake Controllers

Question:
DO YOU KNOW IF THE HBA-CAM WILL SOLVE THE COMPATABILITY PROBLEM BETWEEN A 2011 GM INTEGRARED BRAKE CONTROLLER AND THE DEXTER EH 1600 ACTUATOR AND IF SO WILL THE SYSTEM STILL BE COMPATABLE WITH OTHER ie FORD, DODGE, ETC. INTEGRATED CONTROLLERS? THANKS

Expert Reply:
The adapter # HBA-CAM will only work with HydraStar Electric-Hydraulic Brake Actuators. The Dexter actuator does not work with the GM or Ford integrated controllers but the Dodge ones seem to be fine.
For the 2011 GM truck you will need to install an aftermarket controller. We actually have an FAQ article that covers this very problem. I have included a link to it for you. For a compatible brake controller I recommend the P2, # 90885, because it is easy to set up and easy to use.
There is a similar issue with Ford. We have an FAQ for that as well which I have linked for you. I would need to know the year of the Ford to determine what additional harness is needed (an additional harness is not needed for the GM truck).
