Question:
Im looking at yakima fat cat evo And rhino rr572. I know yakima sits lower that rhino rack. But exactly how low is yakima fatcat evo compared to rhino rack?

Expert Reply:
The Yakima FatCat Evo # Y03095 will give you about 1-7/8" lower clearance compared to the Rhino-Rack Ski and Snowboard Carrier # RR572. From the top of your crossbar the FatCat has a height of 4-5/8" and the Rhino-Rack at 6-1/2".
Both of the carriers make excellent ski and snowboard carriers and double as fishing rod holders in the warmer months but if you are looking for a lower profile carrier the Yakima FatCat Evo is the best choice. If the clearance difference isn't quite what you were looking for I would consider the 4 Ski and 2 Snowboard version of the Rhino-Rack carrier # RR574. It has the same height as the smaller Rhino-Rack but gives you a similar capacity when it comes to skis as the FatCat Evo.
