Length Between Mounting Brackets on Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch # 31540

Question:

I have a 1988 Mitsubishi Montero SWB. I’m looking for a front hitch I can mount on it.

The length from the inside of one mounting bracket to the other is 27" on the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31540. Distance from mounting holes center to center is 30" and the mounting plate thickness is 5/16". Refer to the diagram attached below. This hitch is designed to fit 2004 - 2005 Ford Explorers and 2002 - 2003 Ford 4-Door Explorers. If you have a different vehicle, let me know and I can find a hitch that is confirmed to fit your vehicle.

We do have a hitch available for your 1988 Mitsubishi Montero, but we do not have any front-mount hitches available. I contacted Curt to check if there were any front-mount options available, and they confirmed they do not make one. If you are okay with a rear-mounted hitch, we do have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12181 that is confirmed to fit your vehicle. This is a Class II hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver with a gross trailer weight rating of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight rating of 300 lbs.
