Is Curt Cargo Carrier Going to be Clear From Exhaust

Question:
2016 Ford Expedition. I have one rear exhaust pipe on the right facing the rear. Do I need to worry about heat from the exhaust pipe burning or melting coolers or totes? I didn’t see anyone comment about that on your site. I like the clearance from the vehicle of this one. Other sites mentioned the burning/melting for rear exhaust, but their carrier looked much closer to the vehicle. This would be my first purchase of a hitch cargo carrier.

The Curt Cargo Carrier # C18151 is an excellent option for a carrier to not have to worry about exhaust. The reason is it extends a full 19 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier.
That means there is far more clearance from the exhaust than other carriers, and that, along with its large 24" x 60" size is why we highly recommend the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18151.
You will also need to secure it to your trailer hitch, and for an anti-rattle device that also locks the carrier to protect it, you will need the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232. Or, if you did not want a lock and just wanted a pin you would need the Pin and Clip # PC3.
Finally, if you need a cargo bag to help keep the contents you will be transporting nice and dry, the best option is the waterproof Curt Cargo Bag for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier # C18211.
