Recommended Covered Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches

Updated 10/25/2025 | Published 04/03/2025

Question:

Just want to confirm there isnt a cargo carrier bag for this unit that covers the exterior? I came across 988501 but that shows as 59x24x24 , was hoping to have something to cover the entire exterior.

Hey Matt, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but our largest carrier is going to be the etrailer Cargo Carrier Bag # 988501. This cargo bag is 59" long, 24" wide, and 24" tall, making it just a bit too small for the 24x60 etrailer Enclosed Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches # e54VV.

If you don't already have a cargo carrier, you can use the 23x47 Carpod Cargo Carrier w/ Sidewalls, Lid, and Bag # M2200-01-02 which is a bit smaller, but still is plenty big at 48-3/4" long x 24" wide x 22" tall. This carrier also has a 450 lb capacity, will work with 2" hitches, and includes a black polyester bag.

If there is anything else I can do for you, or you think of something else, feel free to let me know in the comments below!

Hey Matt, did the Carpod carrier with the included bag end up being a good fit for what you needed? Knowing how it worked for your setup could help others looking for a full-cover option for their cargo carrier.

@JonG , the Carpod carrier was recommended if I didn't already have the carrier, which unfortunately I did, so I can't offer anything on the Carpod.

@MatthewR Did you end up using any different kind of cover?

@JonG , I did not, at least not a traditional one. As per the original answer there was nothing large enough for mine. I ended up carrying around a tarp and if it rained I just secured that over the carrier.
