Which Weight Distribution Hitch for 2021 Little Guy Mini Max Towed by 2016 Toyota Sienna
Updated 10/17/2020 | Published 10/16/2020 >
Question:
I have a 2016 Toyota Sienna which has the factory tow package and am wondering which weight distribution hitch you recommend. I just had installed a Curt 13343 hitch and will be towing a 2021 Little Guy Mini Max that I havent picked up yet. The empty weight is 2320 lbs, the GVWR is 3500 lbs, and the tongue weight is 240 lbs. Thank you,

When choosing the correct weight distribution system for your trailer, you'll want to consider what the fully loaded weight of the trailer will be; the tongue weight should be anywhere between 10% and 15% of that when loaded. For reference, the 240-lbs tongue weight is going to be the dry tongue weight of the trailer and will increase as full propane tanks, water and cargo are loaded. Since your trailer has a GVWR of 3500-lbs, you'll likely have a tongue weight when fully loaded of 350-lbs to 525-lbs maximum.
I recommend using the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 6K GTW, 600 lbs TW # BLU36FR since it provides you with a tongue weight range of 200-lbs to 600-lbs, so it's going to be rated appropriately and since this weight distribution system also has sway control integrated, it's also going to help keep your trailer under control during sway events. This system has clamp-on brackets that can be adjusted along the trailer frame, so it accommodates frame-mounted items such as gas tanks, battery boxes, toolboxes, or generators and will provide you with a lot of flexibility during setup.
This system comes with all of the parts you need to install it, including the shank, head, bars and hitch ball.
