Could Ground Wire of Optronics Trailer Taillight STL68RB Be Ran to Two Ground Circuits

Updated 08/31/2020 | Published 08/28/2020

Question:

Hi so I built a flatbed for my 2004 f350 and was interested in using the STL68RB all in one surface mount lights for the rear. The OEM lights have 3 wires going to the stop, tail and turn and 2 wires going to the reverse. Assuming one of the reverse and one of the tail light wires are grounds would I connect the white ground wire to both and then hook the rest of the wires up accordingly? I tried to watch your how to video on this but it was very misleading as to where the gentleman in the video was splicing wires off of as it did not look like an OEM Ford taillight wiring harness.

If you can verify for sure that the two circuits you mentioned on your truck's factory wiring are ground circuits you can run them both to the white wire of the # STL68RB and it will work great.

If you aren't sure what the functions of the wiring on your vehicle are you could use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 while applying the various lighting circuits.
